Preco Electronic releases new sensor to reduce blind spots

Boise, Idaho, April 2010 – Preco Electronics announced the general availability of two new products in the PreView patented-puled radar object detection family.

The first, WorkZone PreView, is a pulsed-radar, single sensor system that detects objects in a drivers blind spot, then notifies the driver through an in-cab warning unit with the information they need to react in time to avoid an accident.

WorkZone PreView is available in a 10’ detection zone, which is the ideal coverage for utility trucks, service trucks,and certain off-road trucks. The sensor has been specifically designed with a shorter radar beam for close-in detection that covers the vehicles bumper from one corner to the other, and a second radar beam that extends 10’ and is approximately the width of the vehicle. The result is a blind spot detection solution that is ideal for vehicles working in high-traffic areas and narrow roadways without the nuisance of false alarms.

The second is the ClearPath Safety System. ClearPath SS includes the ClearPath camera and monitor system, WorkZone PreView radar sensor, and PreView VideoLink.

The ClearPath camera system provides four camera inputs so you can easily connect multiple cameras to one monitor. The 7” color monitor provides 800x 480 resolution, split screen capability, and includes brightness sensors so you have a clear image whether you are working on a sunny day or raining evening.

The end result is giving you driver all the tools recommended by NIOSH to reduce blind spot accidents: Active radar to notify drivers when something is in their blind spot, and a monitor to compliment their mirrors to view that object before an accident occurs.
