PULSED RADAR

PreView utilizes a patented pulsed radar technology to detect moving and stationary objects in the driver’s blind spot. Why go through the process of patenting our own technology? Because systems like the ultrasonic technology found on an SUV need ideal environmental conditions to function properly. Others, like Doppler radar, only detect moving objects, and video and infrared are often affected by extreme heat or sunlight. Construction vehicles work in all these conditions, so you need a blind spot solution that will work with you.

How PreView’s pulsed radar works

The PreView radar sensor looks for an echo of a regularly transmitted, small, energy pulse. Microwave frequencies are used because almost everything in nature reflects a significant portion of the electromagnetic energy striking it. The highest reflectivity is metal. However other materials such as wood, foliage, and rubber will reflect energy as well. The PreView system detects objects when energy is reflected back. Larger metallic objects reflect more energy than smaller porous objects and flat, perpendicular objects reflect more energy than rounded objects. The PreView sensor detection zone is primarily triangular shaped, fanning outward from the sensor.
