A forklift operator in a port is focused on maneuvering tight spaces surrounded by multiple objects, people, and other vehicles. It can feel like an obstacle course, which is why the accident rates are so high.
The best approach to reducing these types of accidents and injury is to give your drivers the tools they need to react quickly and accurately when an object is detected close to the vehicle. That is why we provide a more customized approach to the port industry. This includes making the detection area more narrow so it doesn’t extend past the width of a vehicle, and a resolution that is far enough from the vehicle to stop an accident, but close enough in to resolve nuisance alarms.
Simple to install and use, the sensor(s) is mounted to the exterior of the vehicle to detect objects in the blind spot. It is then connected to a display with audible and visual warning indication in the operators area. This gives the operator an audible warning signal when something is in the detection zone. The audible sound changes speed and tone as the object gets closer to the vehicle, giving the operator time to stop the vehicle before an accident occurs.
